Autumn on Bjelašnica brings a completely different experience of the mountain. The summer crowds slowly disappear, the temperatures become more pleasant for being in nature, and the landscapes acquire recognizable autumn colors.

For anyone who wants to get to know Bjelašnica and Lukomir in a somewhat quieter time of year, September and the beginning of autumn can be an excellent choice.

Why visit Bjelašnica in autumn?

One of the biggest advantages of autumn on Bjelašnica is nature. Forests and mountain areas change colors, and the green summer landscapes are replaced by shades of yellow, orange and red.

At the same time, there are fewer visitors to the mountain than during the main summer season. This means less traffic on the roads, more peace and quiet, and more opportunities to stop, take photos, and enjoy the views.

For photography lovers, autumn is one of the most interesting periods to visit Bjelašnica.

Lukomir in autumn

The quad tour to Lukomir is especially interesting during the fall because the entire landscape between Bjelašnica and the village changes from week to week.

The road to Lukomir leads through mountainous areas, and upon arrival in the village we leave enough time for sightseeing, walking and free activities. You can take a break for coffee or lunch, take photos of the village and enjoy the view of the Rakitnica canyon.

As the days become shorter and temperatures drop faster in the afternoon, during the fall we recommend planning the Lukomir tour in the morning at 10:00 AM.

That way we have enough daylight and time to finish the tour without rushing.

What to wear for a quad tour during the fall?

The weather in Bjelašnica can be significantly colder than in Sarajevo, especially in the morning and in the open parts of the mountain.

Therefore, we recommend that you dress warmer for an autumn quad tour than you would for a stay in the city.

We recommend:

  • a warmer jacket

  • long pants

  • closed shoes

  • extra warm layer of clothing

  • gloves for colder days

We also have protective helmets available, as well as additional equipment such as gloves, raincoats, and jackets when needed.

It is best to check the weather forecast before arriving, as weather conditions on the mountain can change quickly.

Less crowds, more mountains

If you don't like big crowds, autumn is one of the best times to explore Bjelašnica.

During the tour, we adjust the pace to the group, take breaks for photos, and drive exclusively on existing roads. The guide is with the group from the very beginning, and before the tour begins, we go through basic instructions for driving quads.

Autumn may bring somewhat lower temperatures, but in return it offers a quieter mountain, different landscapes and a special ambience that cannot be experienced during the summer.

Autumn adventure in Bjelašnica

If you plan to visit Bjelašnica during September or autumn, a quad tour can be a great way to get to know much more than Babin Dol itself in one day.

We especially highlight the tour to Lukomir, which combines a drive through mountainous areas, photo breaks, and time to visit one of the most famous mountain villages in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

For autumn tours to Lukomir, we recommend departure at 10:00 a.m.
